“Why do they hate us?” was the ubiquitous cry repeated in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Media pundits took to the airwaves and regurgitated this phrase over and over again but never once came up with a rational and convincing answer. The American public was shocked and dismayed, wondering how could anyone hate them so much that they would fly jumbo jets into skyscrapers. But the answer to that question, if missed before, is now quite obvious, and it’s called Gaza. What has been going on in Gaza in the past few weeks will answer that question as to why most in the Arab and Muslim world hate the United States government and why Al-Qaeda has been targeting American interests around the world.
